Navigating through the map was a bit tricky. There were plenty of clipping issues and misdirection due to the placement of trees, and it took me a few seconds to realize where I needed to go and that I needed to dash through the bushes. The latter should have a simple fix, however, by editing the dialogue options to say something like "Use your Flame Dash to dash through the bushes!"
Another issue I encountered was having to wait for the monsters to come to me in some areas because of the trees, so I'd have to sit a distance away and wait for them to come - or get close to them and risk having them land a free hit on me. It was also hard to see due to the many trees and often times I'd be getting hit by a Sadkarp or Zapbird and would have literally no idea because their sprite would be obscured by the trees.
Speaking of trees, I found constant difficulty in getting the "Hide in a tree" command to work. It's irritatingly tricky for something so simple, but overall not really game-breaking; kind of just annoying.
As everyone else mentioned, the command reactions need to be fixed. A few times when the trainer gave Bompurr a command, I'd be told that I did it wrong before I even saw the text pop up :(
This game is simple and enjoyable, and doesn't outlast it's welcome. I can appreciate the time that went into this game and I think it's super cute for a quick Game Jam submission. Hopefully in the future you'll take these critiques and suggestions and implement them into future games or future updates! You have some real creative potential! :D
It's a very creative concept with fun gameplay, great music and colorful visuals.
Though, I agree with MasterPlay464 in that it's not a question of choosing to obey or not obey commands, because each command has a very low window of opportunity so it's very easy to upset the trainer by accident.
art style ,animation, enemies ,combat mechanics all of them are great . great game and fun to play , But the commands needs more time to give the player a chance to react to it cuz it's hard to fight alot of enemies and read/do the commands at the same time .
This was fun! The variety of enemies gives the game a difficulty that creates a fun challenge. The art style is really pleasing as well. My only complaint would be the speed at which the commands need to be met, otherwise, it was a nice experience. 9/10, short and sweet, fun and challenging
Haha, this game was pretty fun! The fighting mechanics + SFX are satisfying and the aesthetics are colorful. But I couldn't do the "hiding behind a tree" command as the trainer always got mad lol.
yeah, the hide behind tree works occasionally, I guess it's supposed to work on sightlines or smth, also, the stand still thing counts as disobedience if you're hit, and if you flame dash then swipe on the flame dash one, then she gets mad
This game is so cute and hilarious! I loved this! I was just confused at where to go at the start. Took me a second to realise I can go up through the bushes. Also the music stopped for a bit. The trainer is so cute and funny
It seems like you fail the "don't move" command if you get hit. Which isn't great, because getting hit due to not dodging is the exact reason WHY that command isn't the smartest. And the "hide behind a tree" command is a bit confusing to me. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Other than that, though, I had a ton of fun!!!
Very cool game! I love the art! I will say the screen shake was way to much for me so I had to stop but I enjoyed it up until that point! The 'hide in a tree' command was confusing though- I didn't know how to! Plus I kept getting stuck on stuff xD
Love this game! there is a clear sense of direction and a very cute idea. only suggestion is to add an indicator for which direction you're facing, since it matters for attack but there isn't a sprite for facing that direction.

Ditto! I tried everything and noticed the bushes seemed more penetrable than the other sides!
Took me two tries on the boss because I forgot some of the controls.
She told me to get hit as I won, this led to text boxes over lapping and being disowned after winning... great game despite the bug
